The most important duty of Trade Union JHL is to protect member interests in workplaces and negotiate the members’ terms and conditions of employment.
Collective agreement (abbreviated as tes in Finnish) is an agreement on a specific sector’s terms and conditions of employment. These agreements provide JHL members with better terms and conditions of employment than the law. Collective agreements determine for instance pay, working time, and the right to annual holiday and sick pay. In addition, various working life rules and employee rights, which affect the entire society, are agreed on in them.
As a member of Trade Union JHL, you’ll get security, support, and advice in various working life situations.
Public sector collective agreements apply to people working for municipalities, wellbeing services counties, the Finnish state or the church sector.
The collective agreements for private sectors, concluded by JHL, determine the terms and conditions of employment in municipal and state companies and enterprises, associations and foundations, and in many social services sector companies, among others. Also a private individual, such as the employer of a personal assistant, may act as an employer.
