JHL encourages everyone to take part in a demonstration on 18 November 2023

8.11.2023

JHL recommends its members to take part in the “Kohtuus kaikessa” (Nothing in excess) demonstration in Helsinki on 18 November 2023. The demonstration opposes the drastic weakenings to employee rights and social security proposed by the Government. The demonstration is organised by the Finnish Confederation of Professionals (STTK) and its member unions. The event is open for citizens and members of all trade unions.

Show the Government how you feel about the proposed employee rights and social security weakenings! Participate in a demonstration on 18 November 2023 in Helsinki! Trade Union JHL is encouraging its members to participate in large numbers.

The demonstration is organised by the Finnish Confederation of Professionals (STTK) and its member unions. The event is open for citizens and members of all trade unions.

The event does not constitute working time. No strike benefits or compensation for loss of income will be paid for participating in the event.

The weakenings proposed by the Government apply to a large number of people in Finland. The Government is going to for instance make it easier to dismiss employees, increase the length of groundless fixed-term employment relationships, weaken unemployment security and change the first sick day into an unpaid one. Furthermore, the Government is going to make it more difficult for employees to negotiate by decreasing the status of shop stewards, limiting the right to strike and cementing the pay inequality of female- and male-dominated sectors. The Government is not listening to signals from worried citizens, nor is it willing to engage in genuine negotiations on its measures.

JHL has taken action against the weakenings, more information on our #SeriousGrounds page. SAK’s website also has diverse information related to Serious Grounds.

Free bus transport to Helsinki

STTK is organising free-of-charge shared bus transport to the event. Read more about the routes on STTK’s website (in Finnish). Sign up for the transport by 12 November.

The event will end at 2 pm.

The event is hosted by Katja Ståhl, known from TV.
