Advance voting has begun – let’s save our services in the county and municipal elections

2.4.2025

Advance voting in the county and municipal elections continues until 8 April. Vote to save services! Let’s keep people safe from cutbacks.

Advance voting in the county and municipal elections has begun. When you vote, you can directly influence things that matter in your daily life daily life – such as what kind of care the elderly get and whether there are enough employees in early childhood education and care.

We want that everyone who lives in Finland will have access to public services also in the future. Recently these services have suffered heavy cutbacks. It’s now time to save services and to help to keep people safe from cutbacks.

Vote in advance by 8 April. You can vote in advance at any polling station.

What are public services?

Municipalities and wellbeing services counties are responsible for public services that are the foundation of our welfare state.

You use public services when you visit a health centre, take your child to day care, borrow a book from a library or travel by bus.

Many of JHL’s members work in public services.

You can find a lot of useful information about the elections on our election page jhl.fi/saveservices. There you can learn more for example about

  • what municipalities do
  • what wellbeing services counties do, and
  • what public services are.

Who should you vote for in the county and municipal elections?

You can help to save services by voting for a candidate who is on the side of public services and employees.

The election galleries of the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) can help you in finding the right candidate. The galleries feature plenty of great candidates who understand the everyday life of employees.

You can also filter the galleries to view only candidates who are members of Trade Union JHL.

If you cannot vote in advance, help to save services by voting on the election day 13 April.

Spread the word about saving services

Besides voting, you can also help to save services by discussing the elections and voting at your workplace or with your friends and family. You can share our election page  jhl.fi/saveservices and use our campaign materials.

You can also share information through your social media channels or support the campaign of a candidate who you like.

Everyone can spread the word about saving services in a way that suits them best.
