How JHL can boost your campaign work: up to 1000 euros and a discount on advertising

19.2.2025

If you are a JHL member and stand for election, JHL offers support for your campaign work. JHL grants campaign contributions to its members who commit to the values of the trade union. Campaign contributions are available until the end of March.

The election spring is moving forward rapidly, and the nomination of candidates for county and municipal elections continues just a few more weeks. It is now time to enter the election race. You and other voters decide in the elections this spring for example what kind of care the elderly receive and whether there are enough employees in early childhood education and care.

It is important that there are candidates in these elections who value employees and public services. You can stand for election and help find alternatives for endless spending cuts.

The deadline for submitting candidate applications is Tuesday 4 March, so it’s time to act.

Apply for a campaign contribution by 31 March 2025

JHL member, you trade union grants campaign contributions now. In order to be eligible for JHL’s campaign contribution you need to commit to JHL’s principles.

JHL’s campaign contribution principles

  • Society must guarantee its every member fair opportunities to build their own lives.
  • Every person is treated equally, and nobody is discriminated against for their religion, opinion, gender, sexuality, or colour.
  • Education, care, social security and health care are fundamental rights and must be available based on need, not on ability to pay or status in society.
  • The candidate supports employees’ right to have a say in matters that concern their work, as well as the culture of collective bargaining.

The contribution is meant for the candidate’s personal campaign work.

Apply for a contribution with an online form (in Finnish or Swedish) by 31 March 2025.

How much money you can get for your campaign from JHL:

  • 500 euros if you are a candidate in just one election
  • 750 euros if you are a candidate in Helsinki; Helsinki does not have a county election
  • 1000 euros if you are a candidate in both county and municipal elections

You can also get your advertisement to Motiivi magazine at a special price.

Remember JHL’s campaign materials and SAK’s election gallery

We have created for example printable button badge images, cover images for social media, and a summary of our election goals to help you in your campaign work. Download the materials that you need, free of charge, from JHL’s material bank!

You can tell in your election campaign that you are a member of JHL. However, remember that the trade union’s logo cannot be used in advertisements of an individual candidate. It is also not allowed to use JHL’s logo together with the logos of any political party.

You can also get visibility for your candidacy in SAK’s county and municipal election gallery SAK opens the gallery on 4 April, and it features candidates who have an employee background.

Submit your information for the gallery by 14 March.

Edited on 27 February: The last day for submitting information for SAK’s election gallery has been updated.
