Avainta’s pay review negotiations to start ahead of schedule

7.11.2023

Negotiations on the 2024 pay reviews for the AVAINTES agreement will already start on Tuesday 7 November. The reason is a change related to employers’ association Avaintyönantajat Avainta and KT’s company division.

The AVAINTES agreement parties JHL, Jyty, JUKO, OAJ, KTN and  Avaintyönantajat Avainta have agreed that the negotiations concerning 2024 pay raises will already start on Tuesday 7 November. In the agreement that was concluded in 2022, the deadline for the negotiations was set for 15 March 2024.

These negotiations apply to the three-year agreement solution’s (2022−2025) third-year pay raises (1 May 2024−30 April 2025). If an agreement is reached on the pay raises, the agreement will continue to be valid as planned until 30 April 2025. In case no agreement is reached, the parties can terminate the agreement to end already on 30 April 2024. This should be done by 15 March 2024.

The reason for the earlier negotiations is the changes in employer party unionisation shaped by employers’ association Avainta.

− There is a desire to reach an agreement as soon as possible so that the collective agreement situation can be made clearer for 2024. The companies and employees would then be aware of how the terms and conditions of employment will be like from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025. All negotiation parties have a positive attitude to the agreement period continuing until the end of April 2025. It would bring stability and predictability to the sector. At the end of the day, reaching an agreement is of course all about finding a common voice about the 2024 pay raise level, Trade Union JHL’s Bargaining Director Kristian Karrasch explains.

− If the agreement period continues until 30 April 2025, the negotiations concerning the time after that will be conducted in spring 2025 with KT’s company division on the basis of AVAINTES, Bargaining Director Kristian Karrasch sheds light on the collective agreement’s future.

To find out how the negotiations are proceeding, follow the latest news on JHL’s website.

Agreement reached on the use of AVAINTES development instalment entering into force on 1 February 2024

The contracting parties agreed that the so-called centralised development instalment (0.3%) entering into force on 1 February 2024 would be targeted as a general raise to basic pay or comparable monthly pay.

Salaries and remunerations reviewed in accordance with the general raise will be paid for the first time within three months, and the retroactive raise amounts within four months from the date the reviews entered into force.
