The private early childhood education and care sector got an all-new collective agreement
Salaries and wages rise 2.5% in August. Employers need to start applying the new terms and conditions of employment as soon as possible.
The private early childhood education and care sector has a new collective agreement. A negotiation result was achieved at the end of long collective bargaining negotiations on 29 December. All negotiation parties have approved the result.
We will organise a member event where we present the content of the agreement in January.
Employers must start applying the agreement at the latest on 1 March 2026
The collective agreement for the private early childhood education and care sector becomes effective at the earliest on 1 January 2026.
Employers have to start applying the new collective agreement’s provisions on the terms and conditions of employment as soon as possible, and at the latest on 1 March 2026. Until then, the employers can apply partly or fully the provisions of the private social services sector’s collective agreement that is effective until 31 January 2025.
The agreement is effective one year at a time
The agreement is effective until 30 April 2027, and after that it always continues for a year at a time unless one of the signatory organisations terminates it in writing at the latest six weeks before the end of the agreement period.
Pay increases in the private early childhood education and care sector
- 2.5% across-the-board increase on 1 August 2026
This across-the-board increase increases an employee’s regular wages or salary, including regularly paid fixed increments, such as task-specific increment (“tehtäväkohtainen lisä”) and personal qualifications increment (“henkilökohtainen pätevyyslisä”).
- Adjustment allowance 0.4%
During the agreement period, the parties will investigate and review possibilities for developing the pay system, and if possible, make the changes in the pay system.
An adjustment allowance of 0.4% is reserved for the pay system working group. If the working group does not attain a solution by 11 December 2026, the 0.4% will be distributed for everyone as an across-the-board increase starting on 1 February 2027.
When the collective agreement has been put into its official layout, we will publish it on our collective agreements page.
Trade Union JHL negotiated the collective agreement together with OAJ, Super, and Talentia.
