Summer Job Helpline answers questions from summer workers – or their parents and employers

4.5.2026

Toni Heikkilä is one of the advisers who answer summer job questions on the Summer Job Helpline.

The Summer Job Helpline is a free advisory service for summer workers. It opens in May and is available until the end of August.

The Summer Job Helpline offers advice on summer jobs and employment relationships on telephone and WhatsApp or via an online form. Adviser Toni Heikkilä recommends contacting the helpline right away if you are uncertain about something concerning your employment. Addressing issues early can help avoid bigger problems later.

“Many young people are not sure what is OK at work and what isn’t. Last summer we had a lot of questions for example about working hours, onboarding and employees’ rights in working life,” Heikkilä explains.

The service is primarily intended for young people, but parents and employers can also contact the helpline to get advice.

Asking for help is easy

The Summer Job Helpline operates from 5 May to 31 August 2026. The telephone service is available Mon–Thu from 9 am to 3 pm on 0800 179 279 (toll-free).

You can also ask for advice on WhatsApp on 040 747 1571 or use the online form available on the Summer Job Helpline website.

See the Summer Job Helpline website for more information, frequently asked questions and a summer job checklist.

The Summer Job Helpline is provided by the national labour confederations SAK, Akava, and STTK. Trade Union JHL is a member of SAK.
