Our core mission: defending and improving your terms and conditions of employment

Why should people choose Trade Union JHL? Our core mission is to defend and improve your terms and conditions of employment. We negotiate with the employers about your collective agreement. The collective agreement determines for instance how much you get paid.

Achievements of trade unions include for example eight-hour working day, five-day working week, summer and winter holidays, family leaves, earnings-related unemployment benefit and consolidating the position of shop stewards.

These and many other rights that we take for granted are results of trade unions’ work. Without trade unions we might have much longer working weeks with no holidays or overtime pay.

Your trade union JHL wants to thank everybody who contributes to bringing new members to JHL! Every one of you is immensely important for us.

JHL is the most diverse trade union in Finland. Our members work in about one thousand different occupations in welfare and public services. You can be for example a social welfare or health care professional, a youth worker or an early childhood education and care professional, a cleaner, a cook, a secretary, a security guard or a train conductor, and we are your trade union!
