Negotiations on the collective agreement for government continue

23.1.2025

In the meeting on Wednesday 22 January the parties discussed their goals for this negotiation round. The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for next week.

Negotiations on the collective agreement for government (the collective agreement for state civil servants and employees under contract) continue. Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL, Trade Union Pro and Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO represent the employees in these negotiations, and Office for the Government as Employer (VTML) represents the employer.

The current state sector agreement is effective until 28 February 2025.

JHL’s negotiators are Senior Bargaining Specialist Harri Turunen and Bargaining Specialist Teija Wikman.

– I cannot reveal more about the goals yet, but it is clear that we pursue proper pay rises. Inflation has weakened the purchasing power of employees, and now it has to be strengthened, Turunen comments the starting point of the negotiations.

Wikman mentions that pay is not the only important issue that will be raised in the negotiations.

– For example, things that concern improving the quality of working life are going to be in a significant role when we negotiate the new agreement, Wikman explains.

The next meeting of the negotiating parties is on Wednesday 28 January.
