The Finnish flag

Trade Union JHL supports financially members who have been invited to the Independence Day Reception at the Presidential Palace. Members can get support for the costs of formal wear, hairdresser, barber and make-up. Contact us for further instructions.

The Independence Day Reception of the President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb will be held on 6 December 2026. This year’s Independence Day Reception celebrates Finnish nature. The guest list places particular emphasis on guests working in the field of the nature and environment, including researchers and experts, representatives of environmental organisations, nature tourism entrepreneurs, environmental educators, and volunteers engaged in environmental conservation.

About 1700 guests from all around Finland have been invited to the reception. Half of the guests are invited for the first time.

An invitation to the Independence Day Reception at the Presidential Palace is a great honour. Trade Union JHL is grateful for and proud of every invited member.

We want that all our members who attend the reception can fully enjoy the special day without extra stress for its costs. Therefore, we offer members who attend the reception financial support for the costs of formal wear, hairdo and make-up.

Have you been invited to the Independence Day Reception? Here is what you should do

Have you been invited to the Independence Day Reception? Let us know by sending an e-mail to kristiina.ahonen@jhl.fi by 30 November 2026. You will get more detailed instructions for receiving the financial support in the reply message.

Please note that Members of Parliament or the Government and other regular guests who are invited to the reception every year are not eligible for this financial support.

Motiivi magazine will publish an article about JHL members who have been invited to the reception and will contact you about the article. We would love to hear about your Independence Day Reception experience.
