Come to listen on 25 November: How discrimination and inappropriate treatment manifest in your occupation
Your trade union JHL will tell on Tuesday 25 November how discrimination manifests at our members’ workplaces. A survey commissioned by JHL reveals that inappropriate treatment and discrimination are regrettably common. JHL will present detailed findings, and serve coffee, in an event in JHL’s Central Office in Helsinki.
More than half of JHL members have encountered inappropriate treatment in working life according to a survey that was answered by more than 2,200 JHL members. The survey was conducted by research company AULA Research together with the experts of Trade Union JHL.
The survey is part of a report that also includes an extensive literature review on the topic.
The new report is part of JHL’s work of many years on future trends. The earlier future trends reports deal with the climate change, demographic developments, digitalisation and regional development.
More detailed findings will be presented in the publication event of the report on Tuesday 25 November. You can attend the event on site in Helsinki or watch the stream online.
“The report and the member survey reveal that there is discrimination and inappropriate treatment in all of JHL’s occupational sectors. Problems occur at workplaces and in everyday work. Also trade unions have much work to do on this,” says JHL’s Special Advisor Anna Korpikoski.
Detailed findings will be published on Tuesday 25 November in JHL’s Central Office in Helsinki at Sörnäisten rantatie 23. JHL will serve coffee in the event. The event begins at 9.30 am and ends at 11.30 am. The language of the event is Finnish.
JHL’s Special Advisor Anna Korpikoski and an expert from Aula Research, the company that conducted the survey, will comment on the survey. The other speakers will be Anton Hausen, a Specialist at the Trade Union Solidarity Centre of Finland (SASK), and Niilo Hakonen, a Senior Advisor at Local Government and County Employers KT.
There will also be a panel discussion. The panellists are Niilo Hakonen (KT), JHL’s Immigrant Activities Specialist Neleah Kagiri, and JHL member Mia Mountraki, who has also occupational safety and health representative experience.
You can also watch a live stream of the event.
