Collective agreement negotiations of the private teaching sector and adult education centres have started
Both collective agreements will expire at the end of this month. The goal is to have the new agreements settled before the end of the agreement term. These collective agreements cover nearly 6000 employees.
The collective agreement negotiations for administrative and support service staff in the private teaching sector and for vocational adult education centres are in progress. These two agreements are negotiated at the same time because their content is very similar.
Both collective agreements will expire on 31 March. The goal is to have the new agreements settled before the end of the agreement term.
Negotiation meetings have been scheduled until the end of March.
The collective agreement for the private teaching sector covers 5500 people, and the collective agreement for vocational adult education centres covers a little over 300 people.
The employees of this sector work in many kinds of roles that are all essential for smooth running of everyday operations and for safety and security of educational institutions. The day-to-day life in educational institutions would not function without their skills and work.
The outcome of these negotiations is significant for attractiveness of the sector
Administrative and support service employees in the private teaching sector and adult education centres work for example as assistants, aides, secretaries, coordinators and specialists. They also include professionals working in catering and in cleaning and property services.
“In the negotiations we review the terms and conditions of employment in this sector as a whole. The decisions that are made are significant for continuity of work, coping at work and attractiveness of this sector”, says JHL’s Senior Bargaining Specialist Hanna Katajamäki.
JHL and Jyty represent the employees in collective agreement negotiations of the private teaching sector and adult education centres, and Finnish Education Employers (FEE) represents the employers.
