Negotiations on the future collective agreement for the private early childhood education and care sector continue

30.10.2025

The terms and conditions of the collective agreement for the private early childhood education and care sector are negotiated again this week. Trade Union JHL has pursued the new collective agreement for this sector since autumn 2024.

The negotiations on the new collective agreement terms and conditions continue in two meetings this week.

The goal of the negotiations is to get a dedicated collective agreement for this sector and to keep at least the current terms and conditions of employment.

“The employer party still tries to get poorer terms and conditions of employment for this sector. Of course we cannot agree to that and we will do everything to secure the terms and condition of employment. We have taken action to increase organisational readiness,” JHL’s Senior Bargaining Specialist Hanna Katajamäki comments the current state of the negotiations.

The currently applicable collective agreement for the private social services sector ends on 31 December 2025. If the new collective agreement for the private early childhood education and care sector is not ready by the end of the year, the sector will be without any collective agreement.

“The parties still disagree on many components. We are going to work on a solution to the whole agreement all the way to December.”

The trade unions that negotiate on the collective agreement are JHL, Trade Union of Education OAJ, The Finnish Union of Practical Nurses SuPer, and Talentia Union of Professional Social Workers. The negotiations were resumed on Monday this week. The employers are represented by Finnish Education Employers (FEE).
