In the upcoming collective agreement negotiations Trade Union JHL pursues fair pay rises and better working conditions

The collective agreements of nearly all Trade Union JHL’s sectors will be negotiated next year. JHL wants to improve the position of employees in low-income occupations with pay rises and by developing the working conditions.

The busiest time in Trade Union JHL’s collective agreement negotiations starts in the beginning of the year 2025. We will negotiate new collective agreements for nearly all our members next year.

JHL’s overall negotiation goals for the year 2025 are clear: we want to improve the pay and working conditions of our members in their thousand different occupations.

Fair pay rises for all

Our most significant negotiation goal has to do with pay rises.

– JHL’s objective is to improve purchasing power through fair pay rises. In the last couple of years, inflation has weakened purchasing power especially in low-income occupations. It’s important to ensure pay rises that are fair for all employees. This needs to be considered in distribution of pay rises, comments JHL’s bargaining director for public sectors, Kristian Karrasch.

Furthermore, we want to secure our members’ position in the upheaval of the labour market.

– The current government of Finland has systematically sought to weaken the employees’ position for example by weakening protection against dismissal. We are going to advance employees’ rights and take care of fairness in working life. Personnel representatives must be properly enabled to perform their duties so that they can defend the employees’ interests effectively when changes are made, continues JHL’s bargaining director for private sectors, Marianne Leskinen.

We also pursue improvements to employees’ chances to have a say in their working times and working rhythm. Furthermore, we stress in our goals the impact of climate change on working conditions: the employers must involve the employees in discussion on climate action in their workplaces.

Tell us what you think and have a say in our negotiation goals!

Our members have already been involved in the preparation and selection of our overall key themes, but you can still have a say!

JHL’s top executives and bargaining directors embark on a tour around Finland to talk about our negotiation goals and listen what our members hope from the collective agreement negotiations.

We want to hear what you want us to try to achieve specifically for your sector. Come build a better and more just working life with us!
