Finland gets ready to show the world what true vocational excellence looks like – Abilympics brings the heart of daily work to spotlight in Helsinki
The Abilympics world championship competition of vocational skills for professionals with special needs will take place in Messukeskus in Helsinki on 10–13 May 2027.
The competition is open to participants who are at least 15 years old. Participants compete in more than 40 different skills, many of which are particularly significant for those sectors that many Trade Union JHL’s members represent. The categories include for example catering, cleaning and institutional care, property and maintenance work, and office and administrative services.
“Abilympics is not just a competition. It is concrete action for a more equal world of work – and an opportunity to raise awareness of the skills in the public and welfare sectors in a new way”, comments the organiser of the event, Skills Finland.
The competition is part of the Skills Games event. The event is open for public and free of charge for visitors. It is expected to attract about 120,000 visitors to Messukeskus in May 2027.
Educational institutions, organisations and companies can nominate competitors until 30 March 2027 at skillsfinland.fi/kilpailijahaku.
