Conciliation proposal for railway sector has been approved

The railway sector now has a new two-year collective agreement.

National Conciliator Anu Sajavaara made a conciliation proposal on Wednesday for the railway sector. The proposal was approved by the Executive Committee of the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL and the Executive Committee of JHL’s rail professionals. As a result, the threats of strike have been eliminated. Service Sector Employers Palta (represents the employer party) has also approved the new collective agreement.

– Considering the realities in our surroundings, this is a decent result. A good thing is that the distortions related to the salary of tram drivers, metro drivers and city rail transport drivers (salary appendix 4) have been fixed with an arrangement instalment of EUR 207 to standard monthly salaries during the agreement period, Bargaining Manager Teppo Järnstedt states.

– In addition, the collective agreement now includes 32 paid parental leave days for the parent not giving birth instead of the previous 3 days. This means that the agreement falls within the spirit of the family leave reform.

During two years, salaries will be raised by a total of 6 per cent. In addition, guarantee portions and increments in euros will be raised by the amount of the general raise. The agreement includes a one-time EUR 500 instalment that will be paid in connection to the April 2023 salary.

Earlier, JHL announced two industrial actions for March. The first one would have taken place from 6 to 10 March, and the other one from 13 to 17 March. The possible industrial actions would have concerned all functions and companies covered by the scope of the railway sector’s collective agreement in Finland.
