Those of us not belonging to, say, language or cultural minorities don’t always detect actions that discriminate, hurt or maintain harmful stereotypes. Even behaving with good intentions doesn’t remove a person’s responsibility for their actions.
Trade Union JHL is demanding pay transparency in the Finnish labour market. Transparency helps reduce differences in pay. It is easier for employees to ask for the right amount of pay when they know what others earn in the same or a similar job. The trade union has recently published a comprehensive study on the subject.
This year, Helsinki Pride celebrates the milestones of equality in Finland and abroad. JHL is involved in Pride as a member union of SAK.
