Free summer job advisory service opens on 2 May

The national labour confederations of Finland (SAK, Akava and STTK) are reopening their summer job information service on Tuesday 2 May, providing free telephone and online advice to hundreds of summer employees. You can call the helpline between 09.00 and 15.00 on Monday to Friday. The helpline service advises callers in Finnish, Swedish and English, and anonymous calls are also accepted.

The national labour confederations of Finland (SAK, Akava and STTK) are reopening their summer job information service on Wednesday 2 May, providing free telephone and online advice to hundreds of summer employees. This annual service will now operate for its 14th season.

the free advisory service is open the whole summer and closes on  31 August. The renewed webbsite www.kesaduunari.fi/english holds lots of important information on the world of work for summer employees. The site also includes a facility for requesting advice on individual problems.

You can call the helpline on +358 800 179 279 between 09.00 and 15.00 on Monday to Friday. The helpline service advises callers in Finnish, Swedish and English, and anonymous calls are also accepted.

Carefully read through the employment contract before signing it. You may also contact the advisory service before you start working.

The advisory service will answer questions regarding e.g. salary, workshifts and trial periods. All questions are strictly confidential, so there is no need to be shy.

As a young summer employee, make sure that you receive a full orientation to your job. It’s also mandatory for your employer to aqcuaint you with the working conditions, machinery and using them and working safety. A proper orientation reduces the risk of accidents at work, improves the quality and increases
well-being at work.
