Life changes - JHL membership adapts

Continuing your JHL membership is easy, even in changing life situations. If you enroll for further studies, take parental leave or perform compulsory military service, you are entitled to an exemption from the membership fee. Furthermore, you can continue your membership even after retirement.

Why continue your membership?

JHL safeguards the interests and rights of its members in all situations. JHL negotiates pay and other terms and conditions of employment with employers. Our lawyers will be there to advise you, if you have any problems with your employer.

In the case of unemployment, you are entitled to an earnings-related unemployment allowance, which is more than the basic unemployment allowance for non-union members.

Update your membership status and contact details

It is important to keep your membership status and contact information up to date especially if changes take place at your workplace or your life situation changes

Update your information by

  • calling the Membership Services Unit +358 10 770 31 (Mon-Thu 9 a.m. ā€“3 p.m.)
  • contacting the Member Register by e-mail
  • contacting your local branch

If you move and submit the appropriate notification to the Population Register, you do not need to notify JHL separately ā€“ the information will be forwarded automatically. However, if you have forbidden the disclosure of your personal details, you will need to inform any changes to the Membership Register.
