Methods of payment

The membership fee can be deducted by the employer or paid directly by the member themselves.

Deduction by employer

Most members arrange the payment of their membership fees by asking their employers to deduct the fees directly from their pay. This means that the employer deducts the fee from the employee’s taxable income and pays it into JHL’s membership fee collection account.

This requires the member and a representative of the employer (payroll clerk) to conclude a written agreement by completing and signing the authorisation at the bottom of the JHL membership application form.

Self payment

The following members pay the membership fee themselves:

  • members whose employer does not deduct the fee from the pay
  • members entitled to pay the minimum fee
  • self-employed members
  • members who pay their fees in arrears.

Those who pay their membership fee themselves must tick the box ‘self payment’ on the application form. If you want to change the method of payment and start paying the membership fee yourself, ask for bank giros from the person in charge of membership affairs at your branch, or from the union.
